Relaxation - Helps de-stress and loosen up your body. The treatment consists of flowing strokes, kneading and gentle manipulations of the muscles performed at your chosen pressure. Essential oils with calming and relaxing properties can be used to bring emotional balance to the body and mind. This massage technique is not designed for therapeutic effects or for dealing with chronic pain or discomfort. This is the massage to choose if you just want to chill out, and be pampered and spoiled.
Remedial massage - If you have particular muscle tension or chronic pain a remedial massage may be for you. Your remedial massage therapist will assess where you need treatment and what may be causing your pain. They'll perform some tests to see exactly which muscles are giving you trouble and will tailor a treatment plan to suit. The treatment itself may involve deep tissue work for short periods of time, but the results are definitely worth it. Conditions such as sciatica, carpal tunnel, stiff necks, headaches, sports injuries and many more complaints can be eased with a remedial treatment.
Pregnancy - Massage therapy performed during pregnancy can reduce back pain, joint pain, edema, muscle tension and headaches, stress and anxiety. It can improve circulation and oxygenation of soft tissues and muscles, and of course give you a better nights sleep. **Women who have recently experienced bleeding, pre-term contractions, or have any of the following conditions should speak with a health care provider prior to receiving a massage: High risk pregnancy, Pregnancy induced hypertension, preeclampsia, previous pre-term labor, severe swelling, high blood pressure, or sudden severe headaches.
Trigger points - Like deep tissue massage, trigger point massage focuses on specific areas of the body, rather than massaging the whole body. In the technique the therapist pinpoints exactly the "problem" muscle and coaxes it with deep pressure to relax.
Myofascial release - This therapy focuses on releasing muscular shortness and tightness. There are a number of conditions and symptoms that myofascial release therapy addresses. Many patients seek myofascial treatment after losing flexibilty or function following an injury or if experiencing ongoing back, shoulder, hip or virtually pain in any area containing soft tissue.
Kinesio Taping - This method is based on a simple principle that the body has built-in healing mechanisms and healthcare practitioners can help to positively influence their efficiency by removing barriers that impede them. Kinesio tape provides extended soft tissue manipulation to prolong the benefits on manual therapy administered in the athletic training room or physical therapy clinic. The results are increased fluid flow through an injured area, better control over muscle contractions, reduced pain, and ultimately faster healing. This effect is modulate and coordinated by the nervous system by specifically stimulating the sensory motor system. Kinesio taping can help with: shoulder injury, bursitis olecrani, carpal tunnel syndrome, chondromalacie patellae, epicondylitis, frozen shoulder, gonarthrosis, herniating lumbar disc, hallux valgus, lower limb instability, neck pain, neuralgia, rib fracture, menstrual cramps and period pain etc.
